Process Paper
I chose my topic (The Suffrage Movement) by looking through the list of topics we could do. I saw The Suffrage Movement. I instantly researched Women’s Suffrage and was interested. As a girl, I want to learn about the history of women. I wanted to learn about what women had to go through in the past. Women’s history is very important to me because I want to learn how women fought through the tough times in life back then. Everything has changed over the past century. It is good to know what went on before, not just now. Also, some relatives may have been involved in the Women Suffrage. I enjoyed researching this topic.
I conducted my research by first going on my computer and laptop at home. I went online to the Windy Hill Middle School website to access some of the school’s databases. These databases provided very good information for my website. I took notes on these databases to use in my project. Next, I went on Google and typed in key words from my topic. I searched Suffrage and voting rights. I wrote an outline and took some notes from these sources. I looked at some quotes on a website about women’s suffrage. I also read the biography of a woman who was involved in the movement. I looked at some pictures on Google images. I really liked one particular picture because it showed the emotions and the depression that many women in that time went through. The picture shows the sadness and oppression the women endured during this movement. The research in my project also showed the courage, determination and resilience of the women during the movement.
I selected a website as my category for this history project because I want to showcase my creativity. I want to be able to use interesting pictures and quotes. Being able to automatically put a bibliography on a website makes it very easy and impressive. I created my website by making an account on Weebly. Weebly provides an efficient way to create a great website for school. I picked a design that went with my topic. Women had to go through a difficult time with little support. Therefore, I made a dreary, depressing, and sad design and background for my website. The title was made big on my website to pop out at the readers and grab their attention.
My project relates several ways to the National History Day theme. The theme is Turning Points In History. Women Suffrage was a very big turning point in history because women and men were proved equal. If women were not able to vote today, women would have absolutely no control over their lives today. Freedom, control, and equality are very important to a human being. Women should have had it too. Women would probably not have jobs or money if Women Suffrage was not a turning point in history.
